There's a tiny bit of resemblance, but nothing really uncanny.
This reminds me of the topic I posted a while back swearing up and down that Fable's main theme was ripped straight from the Secret of Evermore CD (one of the arranged tracks) and nobody else could hear it, hehe.

Yeah, what to think of this. There is another Xenogears song: Dajil (both OST and CREID version) sounds very similar to Loreena McKennitt's 'Marco Polo'.

Well it wasn't a knock against Mitsuda or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if he said he was a Secret Garden fan...
It was just one of those times where it's like "hey, that sounds familiar!"

You know, with millions of songs in the same genre... It's hard not to have any sound similar...

I think the most similar thing is the weird time-signatures changing between 5/4 and 3/4, whcih gives them basically the same rhythyms. The melodies don't sound that similar to me.
