I just picked up this DS game after just reading the synopsis on the back of the case. Anyone have opinions on it? Is this survival horror? It sure looks like it, but it could be just some serious drama, heh. If it is horror, I probably should return it...

So far it looks like an adventure/mystery. It's a decent game, I suppose. I really like the tender art style.
PS: What's wrong with horror games?

It's an adventure game in the old sense. It's certainly not survival horror. :-)

Point-and-click adventure, not horror at all. Suspense/drama-ish, maybe? The story is quite well done, but I was disappointed with the fact that I finished the game twice in eight hours (failed to get the good ending the first time so I did the new game + where barely anything changes and got the good ending).

It's been compared to Myst, although Myst is a longer and deeper game.

Thanks all for the respnses. ^_^ Yeah, I was thinking it was going to be a point-and-click adventure like Shadowgate or Myst (still gotta finish Myst III...) by the screenshots they had, but the synopsis also made it sound like survival horror.
Idolores: I'm not a big survival-horror person...I'm surprised I managed to play more than a few minutes of Silent Hill. In the daytime. I scare quite easily and horror stuff just really freaks me out.

Horror stuff really freaks you out, huh? Yeah, that's usually the point of a scary movie or game.
I still think that Fatal Frame 2 is the scariest experience one can have on the PS2.

Fully Agreed. The Fatal Frame series is top notch when it comes to console gaming suspense and tension (IMO)

BLOOD EDWARD ISLAND AWAITS . . .
Ten years after her parents' presumed deaths, Ashley Robbins receives a package—supposedly sent by her father—that contains a small device. Tracing it to deserted Blood Edward Island, she sets out to discover what really happened all those years ago. Follow Ashley as she explores the island's depths, solves puzzles, searches for clues, and uncovers the truth of her parents' fates.
Really wish I was the op so I could put that in the first post. Anyhow, I am playing this game again after abandoning it years ago. The game script is vastly inferior to Hotel Dusk DS. It's written for little kids, yet it has a Teen rating. There are too many screens that pop up to investigate things and it makes the experience unenjoyable going through more work than necessary to do that. So that is the main reason I can't enjoy it (the bad interface).
Another problem is that the dialogue cannot be skipped over quickly upon a second listen.
I really need to get that 9-9-9 DS game.
