Many of you probably know or already have the Sword & Sworcery soundtrack from Jim Guthrie. If not, you really should check it out. It's quite beautiful. I loved Sword & Sworcery and one of the main reasons is the music. It's mostly just walking around so gameplay criticisms could be warranted but as an overall package it really came together for me.
Well now to coincide with the Japanese release of the game, there is a new remix album available digitally called The Scythian Steps. It has remixes by Akira Yamaoka, Michiru Yamane, Mitsuto Suzuki and more. Check out the track listing here - http://jimguthrie.bandcamp.com/releases
I'm only just listening to it for the first time as I type this so not going to give any impressions yet but I'd say it's definitely worth checking out.

This is crazy, unexpected, and awesome.
A quote from Jim Guthrie when he replied to a congratulatory email I sent: "this album was a real 'pinch me' moment."
I love this sort of international collaboration. And this music is pretty good. I especially like Suzuki and Yamaoka's contributions.
(also, not SURE about this yet, but I think "Decasségui Hip" might be Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka).

The Suzuki and Yamaoka contributions are definitely my favourites too. Really powerful stuff on both tracks and the guitar in the Yamaoka track is fantastic. This is the kind of stuff he excels at and it fits surprisingly well with the Sworcery music.
My only wish is that there could have been more of it. Still, seven great tracks here. I've had it on a loop most of the day.
