Okay, I'm pretty far in sorting though my music to make a car worthy playlist. Here are my VGM selections so far although there's still plenty I got to re-listen to. Anyway, feel free to comment on what tracks you like and dislike and if you can name a track you'd think I'd like based on something here let me know:
The Black Mages - Battle Scene (Final Fantasy)
- in general like 95% of the Black Mages stuff has fallen out of my favor, I like how they elaborate on this one though since there isn’t much to work with
Breath of Fire III - Do Your Best!
- not the biggest fan of BOFIII's music but the battle music definitely grabs me
Breath of Fire III - People, Cats, Birds, and Sea Lice
- wow, a town theme? Aren’t too many of these included…
Breath of Fire III - To a Distant Place
- I like this a lot more than the first world map theme
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Pitch Black Intrusion
- Before I saw this in context I wouldn’t have guessed snow… I’m serious
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Scenery of Amber Fields
- it’s freaking beautiful
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - Statues Born of Darkness
- the only track I really miss that’s not on the sampler version of the soundtrack
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia: Sorrow's Distortion
- fell in love with the minute I heard it
Climax Landers (TimeStalkers) – Battle
- don’t know why this sticks out of an otherwise decent soundtrack
Chrono Cross - Prisoners to Fate
- I hate Chrono Cross but have to admit the soundtrack is something else
Doom SNES Game Rip - Kitchen Ace (and Taking Names)
- Robert Prince’s tunes powered up by the SPC700? Yes, yes and yes.
Einhander - [Shudder] -Against a Large Enemy Type 1-
- dude, the vocal part alone is enough to make this awesome
Final Fantasy (Origins) - Temple of Chaos
- I know “Abandoned Castle” is a bit sadder but I like this version the most
Final Fantasy Tactics - Trisection
- When I think FFT I’m always led back to this track more than any other
Final Fantasy VI - The Mystic Forest
- the quintessential forest theme?
Final Fantasy VII - Aeris' Theme
- really, are you surprised?
Final Fantasy VII - Anxious Heart
- I think the title says all the needs to be said
Final Fantasy VII - ShinRa Company
- you have to admit this nails what the ShinRa are all about
Final Fantasy IX - Place of Memory
- one of my favorite Nobuo pieces
GoldenEye 007 N64 Game Rip - Subterranean Caverns
- I really suck at GoldenEye but I can’t resist it’s music
GoldenEye 007 N64 Game Rip - Severnaya Installation (Day)
- I just love the wintery subtext of this piece
Legend of Legaia - The Misty Nest
- LoL’s soundtrack is pretty weak but this track personifies the Mist Generators to a tee
Legend of Mana - The Ruined Sparkling City
- well, the whole soundtrack is good, but I’m having trouble deciding on other tracks
Lost Child - Dead Alas
- My favorite Lost Child track
Lost Child – Survive
- Side B’s heavy hitter
Panzer Dragoon II Zwei - Destiny Begins
- to me this song sums up what Panzer Dragoon has to offer
Parasite Eve - The Omission of the World
- everyone knocks this thing for being repetitive, but isn’t most of the soundtrack?
Parasite Eve - Primal Eyes
- one of the best openings I’ve ever seen in a video game
Fan Remix - Guts Man Stage (Melodious Hard Rock) by Phoenix Project (Yuu)
- I'm kind of sick of the original; this injects some life into it
Fan Remix - Air Man Stage (from Mega Man II GB) by Phoenix Project (Yuu)
Fan Remix - Dr.Wily Stage 2 (from Mega Man II GB) by Pheonix Project (Yuu)
- someone made the excellent compositions in Mega Man II on the GB tolerable!
Fan Remix - Metal Man Stage (Metal Man Goes Clubbing) by Disco Dan
- Disco Dan’s stuff is pretty good
Fan Remix - Mega Man X Medley (Brainsick Metal) by Protricity
- a classic
Fan Remix - Robot Master Interview (Rough Version)
- a rip of a you tube video
Fan Remix - Victory (Final Fantasy Victory Theme) by brentalfloss
- FF victory theme with lyrics
Fan Remix - Battle #5 (from SaGa Frontier) by ???
- this may surpass the original, wish I knew who remixed it
Mega Man 2 - Flash Man Stage
- IMO the best MM2 theme
Mega Man 6 - Plant Man Stage
- Yuko doesn’t seem to get much props…
Mega Man 8 - Frost Man Stage
- my favorite out of the universal stage themes, cold merriment
Mega Man 8 Saturn Game Rip - Tengu Man Stage
- probably the greatest “extra” in the Saturn edition of the game
Mega Man 9 – Title
- is easily on par with the older title themes
Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge - Cut Man Stage
- Dr. Wily’s Revenge has great audio!
Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge - Fire Man Stage
- I’d take this over the original Fire Man Theme
Mega Man Legends 2 – Blitzkrieg
- at least the got the right tracks on the Special Collection disc!
Mega Man Legends 2 - Geetz (otherwise known as "Jiji")
- I can see how some can see this track as “messy” but the rapid fire drumming makes it irresistible
Mega Man X Command Mission - The Cheerful Thief Marino
- not really an Okada fan but some of his character themes hit the spot
Mega Man X Command Mission - Steel Massimo
- like "The Cheerful Thief Marino" doubles extremely well as a battle theme
Mega Man X4 - Colonel & General
- a bit repetitive but brings certain battles to life
Mega Man X4 - Opening Stage X
- dead-on represenation of character
Mega Man X4 - Opening Stage Zero
- again, another dead-on representation of character
Mega Man X4 - Opening Theme
- can't think of a better way to open an x-cellent game
Mega Man X4 - Stage Select 1
- probably my favorite stage select theme
Mega Man X4 - Storm Owl Stage
- bold and proud, it makes a striking statement
Mega Man X7 - Infiltration ~ Crimson Palace Stage 1
- I like how it uses ambience as a perceived weapon
Mega Man ZX - Rockin' On
- Ryo Kawakami, you're my hero....
Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero - Enemy Hall
- sounds a million times better than the "tiny" GBA version
Resident Evil - Terror (Darkness Lives)
- ok, it's cheesy as hell but it definitely makes it's intended statement
Resident Evil 2 - Leon With Claire
- another reason why cut scene music isn't so bad
Rockman & Forte - Boss
- a little repetitive, probably reminds me of "Colonel & General"
Rockman & Forte - King Stage
- wow, this is like the only reason I wish we got the game the first time around
Rockman & Forte - Pirate Man Stage
- a little more intense than Aqua Man's theme in a good way
Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song - Mysterious Glitter
- there is something about this track that consumes me
SaGa Frontier II - Possession
- I'm more than possessed when I hear this
SaGa Frontier - Theme
- dude, I LOVE "Theme" and the scene it plays during in the game
Star Gladiator PSX Redbook Audio - Stage 6 (Stage Zelkin)
- classic Capcom rock remastered for the PSX
Star Ocean: The Second Story - Mist Began to Form
- dreams are dashed and mist began to form *sob*
Star Ocean: The Second Story - Pyroxene
- this really screams "mountain" to me
Star Ocean: The Second Story - Rescue Operation
- sorry but the whole "mine" motif that this is built around is infectious
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - The Desolate Smell of Earth
- one of the few [perhaps only?] town theme on the list; prefect title
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time - Ice Crystal
- I can see how this can be considered cheesy, but I'm down for the count
Super Metroid - Maridia Rocky Underwater Area (aka the "pretty" one)
- oh come on! Like this wasn't going to be here!
Threads of Fate - Roadblock
- another one of my favorite danger themes
Threads of Fate - Bonded by Claire
- on the whole this soundtrack didn't grab me; this song sure did however
Tomb Raider PSX Redbook Audio - Ruins of a Lost Civilization
- as sparse as TR's music is it's amazing when it makes an appearance
Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria - A Motion of Finishing Blow
- wasn't a big fan of this score but the main battle theme grabbed my attention
Wild Arms Alter code:F - Determination, and then...
- one of the few reasons I'm glad Alter code:F exists
Wild Arms Alter code:F - The Power Which Supports the World
- as much as I like the cryptic original, I'd take this rendition over it
Wild Arms 3 - Blood, Tears, and the Dried-up Wasteland
- hey, it's the first boss theme of Naruke's that's noteworthy
Wild Arms 3 - From Beyond
- love the methodical build up in this one
Wild Arms 4 - over the wind
- it's kind of overused in the game; could have swore Naruke wrote it
Wild Arms 4 - From Your Tears...
- another sad piece, a little more special then you'd think
Wild Arms 5 - One Day You'll Forget Your Hopes and Dreams
- I really do feel hopeless when I listen to this one
Wild Arms 5 - Terrible Monster Attacking Crew!
- really, this piece was pulling me though the game - which I never finished
Wild Arms XF - A Quick Night in Elecius
- I love how great this piece is despite it's stereotypical feel/sound...
Wild Arms XF - Birds Soaring Over the Battlefield
- Hitoshi Fujima's work here kind of reminds me of Sakuraba with the organ usage
Wild Arms XF - Siren's Beautiful Sword
- has the type of energy that really brought the WA sound back to me
Wild Arms XF - This Sword Style Rages Still
- it's got a really nice beat
Wild Arms XF - Weapons Born From Man's Womb
- really reminds me of "One Winged Angel" done Wild Arms style
Wild Arms: rocking heart - Dungeon: Ruins Type 2
- doesn't seem to get any love in the reviews I've read; my favorite on the album
Xenosaga - Fighting KOS-MOS
- usually not a fan of things this bombastic
Xenosaga - Last Battle
- I can only wish that many other games I love had final battle music this wonderful
Xenosaga II - chase
- I'm usually not a fan of cut scene music, but I love this piece!
Xenogears - Flight
- I really feel on top of the world when I hear this one
Xenogears - Fuse
- one of my favorite danger themes
Xenogears - June err... October Mermaid
- Xenogears is full of emotional pieces...
Xenogears - Stage of Death
- I like this one even though Mitsuda's battle themes don't get a lot of love
Xenogears - The One Who Is Torn Apart
- I know a lot of people dislike this one since it doesn't have a lot of development

Just to clarify, you don't like trance/techno stuff (wangan midnight maximum tune) for car driving music?

I like this thread idea- I was thinking of posting something similar...
Anyway how do you like this track from Final Fantasy Tactics: track 34 from disc one "Tutorial" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZvJaGf4Yig&fmt=18 It's my favorite track from the soundtrack.
Also, how about Chrono Trigger "Secret of the Forest" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJzedahyjXE&fmt=18

Well, for the most part I'm open to anything. Still, when it comes to techno I have my limits and when it comes to trance I really don't want anything that's too mellow.

I have both of those soundtracks on hand. Those are both good tracks - and they were considered - but they really didn't fit into what I was aiming for. Still, if you like "Secret of the Forest" you should check out Breath of Fire III's "Falling Green." What you find may surprise you...
