Oboromuramasa Ongakushuu Hensou no Maku. What gorgeous looking cover art. I may have someone buy this for me on X-Mas.
I'll be buying Sonic The Hedgehog Soundtrack 1 & 2 OST.

^ What.
Okay seriously does nobody ever post news about fantastic sounding new albums on here any more or am I just THAT oblivious? How do things like this keep popping up on upcoming album lists without my ever having heard a single word about them?
Also,

I have the same problem with it that I did with the original - I really don't need that much female skin on my game music album covers. I mean honestly, it makes me feel weird to sometimes have the ost sitting out on my counter when company comes over.

Nice to see the OP ignoring Ace Combat Assault Horizon and Black Rock Shooter. This October is actually pretty amazing in that my all four favorite composers release something new. I'll surely buy Assault Horizon and Persona 4. I even didn't notice Muramasa and Grand Knight were already released, and I forgot to order. Perhaps I should sample them as it's a bit too late to make a blind purchase. I'm a fan of Namiki's post-Basiscape works, but I don't care about his earlier works at the same time, and I wonder which Black Rock Shooter is closer to....

There's going to be a standalone release of the Assault Horizon soundtrack? I thought that the only way to get the complete soundtrack is to buy the super deluxe Famitsu version of the game. Best Buy in the U.S. is offering a soundtrack disc as a preorder bonus, but it's only a partial soundtrack. I suspect the same is true of the European limited edition of the game.
If a soundtrack is only available in a bundle with the game, which is a pretty lousy trend, I think that Adam is right not to include it in his list.

You know not everybody here purchases every soundtrack that can interest them (although many regular purchasers gather at STC) and to me just because a soundtrack is not commercially sold doesn't sound like a good reason to neglect it as a whole (also, I think this thread is more like a monthly general VGM impression/discussion thread).
But I always expect that we don't necessarily share the same interest, so regardless of how much I'm excited, it can be just meh for somebody else, hence no mention.

The majority of games get no soundtrack release of any kind, pack-ins are better than nothing.

I'll be getting the Re:Birth Seiken Densetsu album and the Final Fantasy Type-0 ltd ed OST along with the Bump of Chicken ltd ed single for the game too.

Well, the stated purpose of these threads is to discuss soundtrack releases, and I think it can fairly be argued that these game pack-in soundtracks don't count as such.

I'd rather say for the very reason you mention, they count. If here is about what to be released, not what to purchase (which we have had a degicated thread for), then why not talking about soundtracks that aren't seperately sold so we may end up not buying? Also, it's worth mentioning that Adam included this type of releases in the past.
Then again, that's really too a small thing to argue about. We can always neglect or don't care about certain soundtracks for some reasons. I often pretend there isn't no Western scene, for instance. :p That's it. But one thing for certain is, it's likely that pack-in/preorder bonus/digital will have been the way most soundtracks are sold over the next decades, and the future VGM fans can hardly neglect them.

I generally avoid listing game pack-in soundtracks (like the Ace Combat one) as those are targeted more towards gamers than specifically towards soundtrack fans. As for Black Rock Shooter, to be perfectly honest I'd never even heard of it until now.
As I've clearly stated in just about every soundtrack release thread up until this one, readers are absolutely encouraged to list any releases of interest that I may have missed (though preferably without the bitter sarcasm).

Why are you excluding packins this month when you've included them from prior months this year? Do you really want to enact a policy like this that will exclude Cave soundtracks?

Nah, it's ultimately a matter of interest, as to why certain releases are not mentioned. Anyway, let's back to the original topic. I just tried to mean there were two OSTs nobody but I cared about. Sorry if my tongue was wrong.

On the contrary, Assault Horizon is my most anticipated soundtrack of the year. Still, I cannot justify spending $150 on the super deluxe limited edition of the game when the game at the center of the bundle doesn't interest me. (The tedious and overlong chopper mission in the demo quashed what little interest I had had.) I suppose that my only options are to keep an eye on the secondary market or to settle for the probable iTunes release.

Is there a preview of the Seiken Densetsu album anywhere? Have not found one yet. Already purchased Muramasa on iTunes, pretty sweet that some stuff is so easily available now.
By Adam Corn (Oct 07, 2011) (#19)
Just one, for Seiken Densetsu 1's "Battle 2", on Square's official HP for the album. They've been good about posting plentiful samples for their album releases lately so hopefully we'll hear more soon.

I'm actually really looking forward to this:

What exactly is that album? Hype it up! I see beatmania IIDX: RED is represented by it, but I don't remember any Tatsh on that album. Album cover looks pretty cool.

Interesting. I hope they have plenty of pieces from 2, which was the main one I played.

reunion
Xepher
