Falcom Special of the Week

By LuxKiller65 (Jun 08, 2009) (#26)

It must be the "eBay shipping overcharge" virus that's spreading around. At least they were right, it's definitely a special shipping of the week, probably of the whole year.

Yeah, when I order stuff from Falcom, I tend to order a bunch at once to try and save somewhat on shipping costs.  It's one of the reasons I still don't have the LOH VI the 3rd soundtrack; I've been waiting for a special deal to combine it with so I can save on shipping.  To be fair, though, they really do pack everything up very well.

If anyone in the US wants to save on shipping, I happen to have an extra sealed copy of Felghana with all the extras.  I got it as part of a special deal with Ys Origin back in 2007; the price for the combo was almost the same as the price for Ys Origin on its own, so I got it even though I already had a copy of Felghana.  It's the DVD-ROM version.  If you're interested, drop me an e-mail, though I'd probably ask for a little more than $10.

Edit:  My extra copy has now been sold.  That was fast.

The shipping price is mega-steep, but for what you're getting, it's still worth it. The full price, after S&H, only $45? That's a fine price to me for an 8 disc soundtrack box ...

You have to remember that this is a fairly large package. I paid for it. smile

The box is freaking HUGE (heavy) though, I had just shipped mine to Finland about two weeks ago, and it was around $26 bucks even by regular 1st class Air (non express).

*Angie gets the coveted box set*

Thanks, Jeff!  ^_^

What is included in the CD box?  This deal looks fantastic, but I don't read enough Japanese (nor know enough about Ys) to figure out what all is included.  Any help would be awesome!  :3

What you get is the CD-ROM version of the game + http://vgmdb.net/album/7385

And even though the shipping is steep (4,150 to Sweden), 5,130 yen is still quite a good price for this set.

Thanks!  That's exactly what I needed to know.  Now I need to order this sucker before it's too late.  o.o

The package I sent to Angela cost almost $11 to ship, and that's within the US.  The package as a whole weighs over 3 pounds.

I'm not sure how this justifies disproportionate shipping costs, but yeah whatever, nice item.

By Boco (Jun 13, 2009) (#37)

I really don't understand why the shipping cost seemed so surprising. When I saw what was included, I knew that the shipping would be over $25. I'm pretty sure I paid about $25 to $30 to have CDJapan ship my FFXI Premium Box via EMS. Shipping cost is exponentially proportionate to the size and weight of the package (especially from overseas).

Disproportionate shipping is when some guy on eBay charges you $10 to ship a single CD within the same country. And I don't buy from people like that. >:3

Good to know; I based my thoughts on the previous comments on the thread without checking for myself, sorry about that. And I totally don't care about Falcom stuff I shouldn't even be here.

You guys are silly. What do you expect a multi-pound, oversized, double-digit disc game to cost to ship overseas via EMS?

I think people were just taken aback at the contrast between the price of the item and the shipping cost.  The high shipping negated the "Wow, that's a bargain!" feeling that the sale initially gave off.

Yes yes and yes.

Two hours into the game now. After I beat it I'll do some marathon listens to the albums (I'm, of course, familiar with most of it. In the last decade I've owned 5 of the 8 albums in the collection, and about half of the albums that make up the music from disc 8)

I got my package too now. If anyone's interested in the game (as new, but without the 8 music cds) let me know and I'll let it go for cheap. I'll throw in a few Falcom promo stuffs for free as well. And if you want to save a bit on the shipping you could buy something from my VGM sale!

Are you using a translation patch?  If so, I'd love to know where I could find it so I could play through the game myself.  Help a sister out? :)

Well, there is some translation almost done, but thanks to the guy in charge going bonkers and some other stupid drama, it's been on hold for two years.

But probably checking the internet should find us the beta release of the translation patch.

By seanne (Jun 15, 2009) (#48)

I've got the beta patch if you need it, Angela. It's a complete translation, save for one short story related sequence.

By Ramza (Jun 15, 2009) (#49)

Yeah, it's virtually complete, just use the Beta patch. That's what I'm using, and it's workin' out fine for me.

And for those who want to play more Falcom goodness on their PC, I've got the Ys Origin and Zwei!! PC games onhand, if anyone would want to purchase those.
