In contrast to my other thread on BattleSQ - I am definitely digging BeerSQ! It's not CafeSQ type music which I thought this might be, but it's more like Oktoberfest meets Squix music!
I prefer this album much better over BattleSQ.
Love the Main Theme (track 1) and the FFVI Spinach Rag ~Character Medley~ is epic!

I actually really do like the samples for this one. I might have to consider this one. Festive while remaining faithful. Only 8 tracks though? ![]()
(and in the interest of not posting a second time, Battle SQ samples sound like complete ass. This is NOT what I would hope a Squaresoft Battle album to sound like).

I ordered this only because I had to get my order to 5000Y for the 500Y coupon from CDJ and I wasn't really happy about it... but there weren't any alternative options I was willing to purchase ![]()
This does not bode well... ![]()

Spinach Rag sold me on a preorder, although I won't get to hear it for awhile because I bundled it with Kikuta's Re:Birth album.

Yeah that's the only negative to me. Same price as Battle, but only half as long. Even the bonus disc only has 1 track but at least it's from Unlimited SaGa. Just goes to show how difficult it is to find capable artists compared to churning out crappy electronic/rock for BattleSQ.

For those who haven't seen or heard it yet here's the official album page, which has samples of all eight tracks.

As soon as I saw the moogle in the background image I made it my desktop. ![]()
Interesting to see "Spinach Rag" on there as the other ragtime track from FFVI, "Johnny C. Bad", was the only need-to-hear track I noticed on Cafe SQ and the two seem to be in a similar style. Too bad they cut the character medley part from the site sample. James O, does it include ALL the character themes??
So the bonus disc includes has an arranged track for Unlimited Saga and two live sets from the SQ Party event. Would be interested in knowing the lengths for those two tracks once anybody gets it!

Wow, only a small bit of sampling and I'm really liking this.

Most of the "SQ" albums don't interest me (SQ Chips had some great tracks) but yeah, all these Beer SQ samples are amazing. Spinach Rag, Can You Fly Sister?, and the FF Main Theme are my faves so far. This is definitely my kind of arranged album, a must buy for me!
Totally agree with Adam too, love the backgrounds. Here are direct links for both the day and night versions:

My knowledge is a bit rusty on the character themes... i know Kefka, Terra, Celes, Edgar, and Setzer are in there for sure...
The times for the two sets on the second disc are 29:43 for the BOOKADENcI set and 20:32 for the Hige Driver track.

I would've called this "Pub SQ."
I found the first FF Prelude rendition to be way too comedic for my taste, but the "Roman & Vorspiel / Drakskip" sample was awesome. The SaGa Frontier II OST has always been one of my favorites, altogether.
I think I would've chosen a better and longer selection of tracks, too.
Why not take the tracks already intended for pub locations, and just soup them up more? I'll list some examples later, I suppose...
They did a pretty good job with that rendition of "Spinach Rag," though.
I'd have to agree, this sounds like a better album than a lot of the SQ stuff.

Finally got this one in the mail, I'm liking it more than I thought I would.
I would've preferred if they'd made the "Roman" and "Vorspiel" from SaGa Frontier II as separate tracks, but oh well. I just separated them using an audio editor, and it worked out pretty seamlessly.
Can you tell that SaGa Frontier II is one of my most absolute favorite PSX, RPG, or overall soundtracks, of all time? It is. I like listening to it during the Autumn, and this arrange album will be the same case.
I'll probably end up lumping these tracks in with Cafe SQ, and elongate the running time on that one; I thought it was out-of-place for them to be doing battle tracks on that one (Cafe SQ) anyway, and ended up setting those tracks off on their own as a separate collection. Beating the crap out of anything is the last thing I want to think about when trying to relax and drink coffee/tea/fruit juice.
I was wondering why everyone was talking about a Final Fantasy VI medley on Beer SQ; it's part of the "Spinach Rag" track. Huh.

I just got my copy today and I quite like it. I wish they had kept the FFVI medley as a seperate track from the Spinach Rag arrangement (as much of the former is very good but the latter is incredible for me), but other than that, color me pleased. After loving SQ Chips, finding a lot of tracks I loved on Cafe SQ, and now really digging Beer SQ, I crave more.
I have SQ Chips 2 and Battle SQ sitting here waiting to be opened, but I'm nervous. I was less impressed with the very few samples I heard from them.

I've held off on listening to this online-style, waiting for the CD. My CDJ order shipped, and it contained 5 of SE's summer arrange albums:
1) SQ Chips2
2) Beer SQ (LE)
3) Battle SQ (LE)
4) Secret of Mana Genesis
5) ReBirth II: Romancing SaGa
so I'll be on a Squeenix high in the coming days. ![]()

Too bad they cut the character medley part from the site sample. James O, does it include ALL the character themes??????? The problem how to solve? Who can tell me?
By Adam Corn (Sep 28, 2012) (#16)
I finally took pen and paper as I listened to the FFVI "Spinach Rag ~ Character Medley" to confirm that all the character themes are in there. Here's the order for any who are rusty: Gogo, Terra, Gau, Mog, Setzer, Edgar & Sabin, Relm, Shadow, Strago, Umaro, Cyan, Celes, Locke. It's a fun piece; a few scattered electronic effects are unwanted but other than that it's very nice, with some clever arrangement choices.
I LOVE the Chrono Trigger "Millennial Fair" and especially the Seiken Densetsu 3 "Can You Fly Sister?" arrangements on this album. It was my first time to hear the latter theme and it's perfect with that festive fiddle, accordion and tin whistle. One of my all-time favorite world music arrangements.

thanks for the confirmation Adam. I just never got around to doing that myself. :p

Adam,
My thanks also for listing out the character themes on FFVI. And also for pointing out that SD3 arrangement ... it really is quite good!
