Want Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana) OST

Anyone here (in the U.S. or Canada) willing to lend me their Seiken Densetsu 2 / Secret of Mana OST?

I know I could just get MP3s off the internet someplace, but I'd rather not worry about viruses, or the data being corrupted, or the MP3s just having been ripped the wrong way, and just rip them myself from the disc.

Don't really want to buy the album for the third time, but I'm willing to pay standard shipping from and back to your location, if you're willing to ship to me in the first place.

Of course, I'm hoping your copy is in rippable condition, and I'd like to be able to scan the cover artwork, too.

Please e-mail me at royalblue51 (at) gmail (dot) com if you're willing to do me this huge favor.

I'd say no offense but I really don't care at this point if I offend you.

Your requests and posts just keep getting more and more bat shit insane each time you post. You have got to be kidding me?  Go find a FLAC+log+cue if you require perfection. Get v0 if you want high quality audio, it's arguably close enough to perfect.

The world isn't out to get you. I assure you.

Usage of Google helps in this, worrying about ciruses in mp3's is kinda moot, especially on niche genre like vgm. And if you're scared of them, you do have a virus scanner, use it. And pretty sure 99,99% of the SD 2 OSV rips floating around are done just fine.

Or if you're afraid of downloading mp3s, just get spc set and convert that to mp3. Should be easy, especially after some google-fu.

And covers are easy to find in VGMdb.

(and someone's gotta be polite after jb so the balance won't be broken)

Gotta agree with jb, this is quite an insane request.  Only one thing to add.. you owned this CD twice and you didn't bother to rip it either time?  Also where are you getting your mp3s from that they have viruses attached to them?  Protip: Don't double click on mp3.exe.

To comment a bit on the "virus in MP3" paranoia thingy:
For virus code to become active the code has to be executed. This doesn't happen automagically, someone (read: an application) has to do this. And your normal playback application just doesn't execute random code it reads from a input file. Yes, it uses the data from the input file to recreate the desired music, but this is fundamentally different from executing this data (executing boils down to having the data in an area of your virtual memory which has exec permissions, then you point the PC register to it).

The only way where potentially harmful data from a music file could end up executed by the CPU/operating system is by using some sort of buffer overflow vulnerability in the playback software. And I haven't seen such security bugs in the two major decoding engines (mpg123 and ffmpeg) since ages. Can't say about all the closed-sourced crap by MS and Apple though.

So you need two requierements:
1) A playback software that is also prone to security problems (should be avoided in the first place, if you're using one you already have a major problem on your system)
2) A music file that is specifically crafted for this particular security vulnerability the app has.

Point two is such a strong condition that you're probably never going to see such a infection situation in your whole life. Most if not all virus infections come from naive users just opening any random executable file that they find in their email attachments. Now that's just the situation I mentioned above. Launching an EXE is giving the system the permission to execute the code inside. And that's where your trouble comes from.

Bernhardt is a troll. That's all there is too it.

I've been reading his post for 5 years (even before he got active on STC), but I'd disagree with it. He is simply a bit retarded.

Some replies on this thread makes me want to these forums to have a Like-button.

Bern, why don't you send this request as a PM to everyone on VGMdb with this album in their collections?

In one single sentence I hate you more than Bern.  Congratulations, new low.

I accept no responsibility if Bern follows my manifestly bad advice.

But getting off the topic of the Bern hatefest, if you're prepared to pay for shipping both ways, Bern, I hope that you plan to make a lossless rip.  Otherwise, you might as well spend $8 on the iTunes version.

No, this's an example of trolling, right here: http://www.soundtrackcentral.com/forums … hp?id=6249

I'm making an honest request for a favor.

Can't believe how cynical all of you are...

You're all just being irritable, I'll disappear from the boards for awhile, because work will keep me away, I'll come back, and you'll all have forgotten what it was you were complaining about.

Thought about it, but no. Rarely anyone ever answers my messages at VGMdb, and don't think it's because I send them spam, because I don't.

Besides, I wouldn't expect anyone to oblige a request for free music.

You know how I feel about iThings. (>_<)

...

Geez, it's my left eyeball that wants to explode from reading all y'all's angry messages all the time...

You guys could use some manners,
it's not like OP forces you to lend him your copy of the album, he's simply asking for a favor.

That's ironic coming from the person who notoriously gouges rare/oop albums.  Badum~ching!

Hey c'mon. This conversation is starting to get really mean at this point. Isabella is awesome. If she does have higher prices people choose to buy them anyways. To my knowledge she doesn't deserve any flack.

As for Bernhardt goes, I can see that his requests are just a tad unorthodox but I don't think he deserves this grand slam people are running too. At least he is a nice dude. Maybe if it was in good fun but I don't detect that at all. He is a regular here.

This thread genuinely makes me sad.

By Boco (May 25, 2011) (#16)

Last time I checked it was "buyers beware", not "sellers be fair". If you feel something is over priced and you pay for it, then that's your fault. Period. tongue

As for Isabella, she's always done a great job for me. Seems to me like we've got more than one resident troll around here.

By Cedille (May 25, 2011) (#17)

We are at least in agreement that he isn't a troll. Anyway, I know he has a good feedback as a seller, so somebody who knows him well could listen to him. If I owned the album I'd have sent a link, too (sadly, I'm one of the few without such a classic sad )

Another rude comment from poor, confused soul.

It's been years since I took the time to track rare albums for people.
Back when I did though, I bought albums at premium price - I sold them at premium price, it wasn't a charity work, sometimes tracking an album took considerable amount of time and effort, I hope that clears that up.

There are plenty of awesome people around here, you're a mean spirited, ill-mannered bastard though, like they say - one in every crowd.

That's just a spambot-thread. Spamming ain't trolling.

Also, I think few people have said this, but I'm gonna say it again; Learn to use google, that ain't hard. Especially in this case when the album is popular. (+ the stuff I said on my first post on this thread). But hey, if you can't manage to find SoM 2 osv rip in 24hours, maybe I'll have be the knight in the shining armor and help you.

The pot is calling the kettle black? But then, I like jb, he has certain style and class with his answers, and they often make me laugh, but then that probably makes me an ill-mannered bastard at least.

And one thing about this thread bothers me is the location, for me, Marketplace seems to be wrong place for this.

By jb (May 25, 2011) (#20)

You can say I'm mean, bastard, jerk, asshole, whatever adjective fits your perfect little description of me but I just call it like I see it.  I don't paint pretty pictures or dance around sensitive subjects or filter much of what I say.  For the most part I just bite my tongue but sometimes, someone has to say it.  You either hate it or you love it -- there's no middle ground, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

About the buyer-beware part/gouging seller comment -- I wasn't directly commenting on the practices, only the irony in the fact that Isabella's prices are almost as extreme/insane as Bern's request.  I've bought my share of albums that cost significantly more than they're actually worth, but it's only because I'm lazy and I eventually conclude that my time is worth more than my money.  In fact, I've bought albums off Bernhardt (some Professor Layton albums, I think).  My thoughts about a person don't prevent me from buying or selling albums to them.

To point out more of Bernhardt's silliness:

- He is the one that vehemently hates homosexuals, correct?
- Doesn't trust Google results
- Asks for job references from people on the Internet who have bought music from him
- This ludicrous request
- Things said the "Hi, how are you" thread

What it really comes down to is having absolutely no faith or trust in being able to make decisions or do things for himself/on his own and his complete lack of self-confidence is increasingly apparent.

I think that it's good to drop the mask of civility once in a while and say what we really think.  I suspect that Adam feels differently, though.

When Isabela offered to sell me the "limited" edition of the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack for $60, I held my tongue and politely declined, so I feel a tremendous sense of catharsis now that someone has finally called her out for her prices.

I get the idea of charging what people will pay, but I think that if you're selling to other members of a small enthusiast community, fishing for unwary buyers who don't know that they're paying too much is unseemly.  That's what eBay is for.

By Cedille (May 25, 2011) (#22)

Despite my little thought on so called "reselling", STC doesn't have a thread split function, so once a thread is hijacked or derailed, it will just go on and on sad , so I'd prefer not to talk about this matter here but change the place, but some may say otherwise.

Don't be a spoilsport, Cedille.  This is the best Festivus ever.

If thats how you really feel then I can't argue with that. I've had nothing but good experiences from her. I don't mean to step on toes or anything. It just goes to show me to not assume something is true for other people.

I think being open with your feelings is a good thing. To my knowledge most people on this forum are open. Thats one of the things I really like about this board. Just the reaction kind of stunned me when I saw something to the effect of,

"Hey, I don't like you!" Defend! "Hey, I don't like you either"

I guess it can't be helped.
