I saw a bee at work today. I had all but run outside to escape a song I especially hated on the in-store radio, some tuneless dork braying about how he's 'been hanging arahhhhhhhwwwwwnd this town for way way way way too lawwwwwwng' fifty times over. Repetitive lyrics are one of those things I get irrationally angry about, like the smell of burnt popcorn or the letter w in NBC's new ad font.
Anyway, the bee. I feel maybe I should capitalize that, and maybe upgrade it to a Bee+, because this was the Biggest Bee I'd Ever Seen In My Life. It took me a moment to realize that that it was actually comprised of the Second-Biggest Bee I'd Ever Seen In My Life carrying the Third-Biggest Bee I'd Ever Seen In My Life, who should technically be the Biggest and Second-Biggest considering their superior was a figment, but the Biggest Bee was only Two Bees and not to be, and someone had to take the brunt of my disappointment.
But apparently the age of ridesharing insects is upon us. I suppose when the new term starts a few will get drunk and try to see how many bugs can fit in a Beetle.

A new chapter in the baseball steroids saga has just begun; Roger Clemens has been indicted for perjury:

Looking forward to flipping bacon (?) in The 3rd Birthday (Parasite Eve).

I'm all but positive that those bits of text off to the side are either:
a. named weapons Aya is using
b. the call names of the soldiers she possesses
That whole thing caught my eye when the first (real) trailer hit and there was an "Oscar Wilde". It drove me crazy for a while until more gameplay details come out, after which I'm leaning towards B.

Perhaps it's Hope? I remember watching Days of our lives, and a guy named Bo had a girlfriend named Hope, and she was buried alive, and suddenly Bo was without Hope in his life. [Hope was brought back from the grave, no worries.]

Sorry to hear that. I've felt the same many times.

There's this super saying that I used to help myself out of a rut just recently; it went something like this: "All the people who caused you problems you are now dead, and you are free to succeed in life as much as you want to."
Of course, that's not entirely true, but then again, those people aren't around anymore, so as far as I know, they COULD very well be dead!

Maybe it's Hope from FFXIII.
God knows my life could've done without him.

Playing Quake (the first one). It syncs up amazingly well with Bel Canto, Shadow Hearts and Parasite Eve music. I am in sweet gothic heaven right now.
EDIT: And Baroque, too.

The last time I ate food wrapped in a spinach wrap was December 2008 and I threw up like a mad man.
And then my wife was like "BAM! Hummus in spinach wraps, eat it!" That's what happened to me today.
Placebo effect? Yes. But I still feel ridiculously awful.

I was doing this recently after many years of not playing it. I was rather amazed how well it held up (even though I regard it as a classic). The basic movement of your character is still something that is rarely matched in terms of enjoyability.
I tried to be a completionist, but the game actually threw several bugs at me that caused enemies not to spawn. Spent about an hour exploring a couple of levels, trying to hunt down the last monster I was missing in each. :\

In all my years, and what has likely accounted for well over a thousand listens, I never realized they actually said "Chocobo" during the intro for Final Fantasy VI's Techno de Chocobo. Holy crumb, that's awesome.
Anyone else hate the new Google Images search setup as much as I do? Is there any way to have your browser (Firefox, in my case) set to the basic version by default, without having to bookmark a search result in said version?

I love the archaic feel of the weapons and level architecture. Everything about the game is oppressive. The monster designs are great and the sound design is, in my opinion, flawless. I'd agree with you that it's a classic.

Kurt Russell >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kevin Costner
Kevin Costner comes in two flavors: disaffected, reluctant hero and disaffected, righteous Everyman. Both are insufferably self-aggrandizing and painful to watch. Kurt Russell comes in two flavors, too, but at least those flavors are total badass and supreme badass.
Caveat: I say this without having seen 3000 Miles to Graceland. I have just added it to my Netflix queue and am eager to see which Earp reigns supreme in a same-screen showdown.

This is how I feel about Doom; it's just a magnificent piece of software desipte limitations.

It's funny how milestones make the sting of uncomfortable truths more piercing. As I approach my thirtieth* birthday, I am beginning to experience bouts of breathless panic about having accomplished nothing and being an utter failure. I have not just now come to this realization, but heretofore I had reacted not with panic but merely with glum resignation.
I suppose that many people experience this crisis when they reach the age of thirty, but that is a cold comfort when I know that I have a better claim than most to the throne of failure.**
* Somehow avoiding the numeral makes me feel better.

Eh, c'mon, it can't be that bad, I don't know you, but I don't believe you're an "utter" failure (very few people are). As for having accomplished nothing (at least so far), its like Eric Idle says in the crucifixion scene from Monty Python's Life of Brian: "You come from nothing, you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!"
I can dig the anxiety regarding hitting the big three-o, I'll be there in about a month myself. Even though I feel my life overall is on the right track and I am "accomplishing" stuff, I still get down sometimes when thinking about the number 30. But... that's all it is, a number, the only power it has over us is the power we ourselves bestow upon it, mostly by buying into society's pre-packaged deal of how you're supposed to "be" when you're 20, 30, 40, etc.. Most people change very little from the time they're 29 to when they're 31 (for example), yet people still treat it like its this big, transformative watershed, because round numbers like that are very psychologically satisfying and neat. So much that they have the power to dump all this anxiety over us that wouldn't even exist if we didn't have a concept of numbers or a pre-determined conception of what a "normal 30-year-old" is "supposed" to be like...

Exactly.
And it becomes even more ridiculous if you realize what that number stands for, ie the number of times the earth has revolved around the goddamn sun since you were born.
Big effin' deal!
Years should be metric anyway.
