DOOMSDAY MONTH sees the last of the final few video games I'd like to play this year. These include Modern Warfare 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. and Mushihimesama Futari. I can afford to wait on Assassin's Creed 2, the 2-in-1 Blu-ray housed God of War Collection, and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles.
Flicks scheduled for home release include G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Star Trek. Also, my favorite Pixar film, Monsters, Inc., finally sees its long-awaited Blu-ray release, day and date of Up. It's a Double-Docter Day!
With composers like Ueda and Hibino onboard, the Bayonetta Original Soundtrack has the potential to be badass. I've liked what I heard from the PSP rip of Ys Seven, so I'll be ordering the OST. Exit Trance Presents Famitrance should be an intriguing release, and depending how much I enjoy the movie, I suspect I'll be picking up Randy Newman's soundtrack for The Princess And The Frog.

Expensive month, unfortunately.
Games:
Dragon Age (PS3)
Modern Warfare 2 (PS3)
And if I have money left over: God of War Collection (PS3), New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Movies:
Up (Blu-ray)
Monsters Inc. (Blu-ray)
Star Trek (Blu-ray)
I enjoyed GI Joe... but I think I'm going to wait until it drops in price (or I might even get it on DVD).

Really? It's kind of gotten to the point where the price gap between new releases for Blu-ray and DVD has shrunk considerably. I mean, The Rise of Cobra, at least at the moment, only sees a three dollar difference between editions. (And the two-disc DVD edition is actually three dollars HIGHER than the Blu-ray.)

Wow. Actually, the Amazon Blu-ray is quite the deal. I might have to reconsider. ![]()

Methinks you'll be waiting a long time for this one. Not even the first Modern Warfare - a game that's been out for nearly two years - has hit the $40 retail mark yet.

Let's see...I think it's pretty slim pickings this month for me...ok, scratch that...
Games:
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Super Mario Bros. Wii
Mushihimesama Futari (but truly, this one is only for the arrange album, as I do not own a 360)
Music:
Mushihimesama Double Arrange CD (see above)
3D Dot Heroes Original Soundtrack
Guwange/ESP Ra.de Original Soundtracks
PinkSweets Original Soundtrack
Sure, both of those Cave OSTs are old albums, but I'm almost done completing my collection. Just the Mushihimesama OSTs to go!
By Jodo Kast (Nov 1 '09, 22:56) (#10)
I'm looking forward to:
Valhalla Knights -Eldar Saga- Original Soundtrack
Ys I & II Chronicles Original Soundtrack
Ys SEVEN Original Soundtrack
And, of course, 박찬욱의 영화 'Thirst'.

As usual, November for me marks the beginning of the Holiday Fast in my family, so anything besides downloadables is off the menu. In that spirit, I expect to grab Megaman Powered Up on PSN in the next two weeks (it'll be my fourth time buying it, I want a damned sequel), and Cave Story, depending on whenever the HELL Nintendo wants my business.
I am going to try to make a case for grabbing Up early, though. I don't expect much resistance.
By James O (Nov 2 '09, 15:34) (#12)
Games:
God of War I & II PS3 collection
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
DVD/Blu-Ray:
Star Trek
Stargate: 15th Anniversary Edition (this didn't show up in Canada the day it was supposed to be released back in October)
The Sarah Jane Adventures Season 2
Doctor Who: The Black Guardian Trilogy - Mawdryn Undead/Terminus/Enlightenment
Doctor Who: The War Games
Soundtracks:
Hikari no 4 Senshi Final Fantasy Gaiden OST
Love Sq

how many of you actually BUY everything you're listing in these threads every month? It just seems like a hell of a lot of money to allocate towards media entertainment.
By Qui-Gon Joe (Nov 2 '09, 18:23) (#14)
Continuing on with my tradition of not buying things until 6-12 months late when they're dirt cheap (this is how I survive on a teaching salary!), I will not be picking up much this month.
I WILL, however, spring for New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Star Trek on Blu Ray.
The Ys soundtracks are going to be super hard to resist, though.

I just spend everything on myself - no significant other obligations to throw money away on haha.

What I'm wondering is whether you guys have the time to go through all that stuff properly every month.

Yeah, that's kinda the hangup. And for me, the answer would be no. ![]()

You'd be wrong about that. I picked up COD4 for PS3 for $30 back in June (BBY had a sale), only a little over a year and a half from its release. It hit $40 long before that.

Sales aside, I haven't seen places regularly carrying a $40 retail price for the console versions new:
-Gamestop
-Amazon
-Best Buy
-Toys R Us
Granted most of these are listed for the GOTY Edition -- which seems to have become the new norm for the title, since the original release has thinned out of circulation.

Well, movies and such I save for rainy days when I've don't really feel like doing anything else and I've done what I need to. I don't buy movies to watch right away, I buy movies that I want to keep (because I've seen them in the theatre and watched them there or when they first ran on tv and wanted to keep them). Same for TV season DVD's. But I'm the kind of person that needs to get stuff right away then I can tick it off my list (and because things are usually a ----- to find later when I do want them at that particular moment when I think to myself - I want to watch/do this - oh wait I can't because I didn't get it right away->go look for it-> and now I really can't because I can't find it. It's happened before.)
Soundtracks I'll just idly listen to while I'm doing something else usually, I don't take my listening that seriously. If I get into it yay, if not eh at least I wasn't sitting in silence doing whatever.
Now video game purchases admittedly because they do eat up time those I have a hard time getting around to. I have a massive backlog of those because I'm usually busy doing something else. When I was younger i made video games a higher priority but now not quite as much (but it's still there). My same rule still applies tho for purchasing video games as it does for movies. And I have a thing about buying used games... I just don't want to for some reason. Actually that applies to most used things in general for me. I'd rather get it new. Maybe it's some kind of ick factor haha.
Anyways, there's some (probably unwanted) insight into the insane existence that is me. =p

The one I got for $30 new is the GOTY edition as well. My point is that it's been sold for well under its original $60 price on and off for some time.

Hello guys, hope you still remember me as it has been ages! I finally got a part time so can afford new purchases! ![]()
The ones I got planned to buy this month are :
*Bayonetta soundtrack(on its way from play-asia - how come no one has made a topic about it?)
*Assassin's Creed 2(having played it at a Ubisoft event, I instantly wanted to be playing it fully already)
*New Super Mario Bros Wii(I liked playing it recently but it gets quite confusing with 4 people)
This seems like plenty for me as I got my 3rd year project to occupy most of my time. ![]()

Just a heads-up for those planning on picking up Star Trek. Amazon's currently offering preorders for the single-disc DVD version for $10. Not bad.
By Wanderer (Nov 6 '09, 15:33) (#25)
BAH! Who would want to get this very pretty movie on DVD? :p
