An unknown female has been unearthed in pre-release screens of Resident Evil 5. Who could it be?
http://www.the-magicbox.com/0805/game080514a4.shtml
My guesses are either a) someone new, b) Rebecca Chambers or possibly... a long shot... Sherry? Can you say possible extreme makeover?!
EDIT: Accidently classified, Adam can you move this?

Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok, maybe I'm a little excited for RE5. I will put down the SNES for this.

Just to verify: are we talking about the brunette or the blonde? I can see the blonde being Sherry, but my first impression of the brunette was...... Claire, perhaps?
Anyway, RE5 has me excited -- but after extensive plays with RE4 Wii Edition, it's hard to imagine controls being any more refined than with the Wiimote.

It did make me think of Claire as well the instant I saw the girl on the image!I am sure they both needed a holiday in the sun after all they went through in Code Veronica. ![]()

Yep I was referring to the brunette. And I totally forgot about Claire... it's probably her...
By Cram (May 16, 2008) (#6)
I'm hoping they touch upon Ada and the result of her activities at RE4's end.
This is my most anticipated game in years. Buying a PS3 whenever it comes out.
By Ashley Winchester (May 16, 2008) (#7)
That would be really cool if it is Claire though it wouldn't be enough to make me buy a new system. Claire + Leon in RE2 ='d WIN in my book though!
By Amazingu (May 16, 2008) (#8)
They can't really make a new RE with Chris Redfield and NOT include his sister, right!?
By SonicPanda (May 16, 2008) (#9)
Longest Possible Shot: Elsa Walker.

Also: Possible November release. There's also some sort of weird timer now on the resident evil website.

Looks like we've got our first trailer of the game:
Captivate 08 Trailer:
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/34647.html
It is looking really good. The gameplay seems to be fundamentally RE4, which ain't a bad thing at all. The size of the crowds looks scarily massive - and whatever's spurting outta their mouths is real freak-show stuff.
By Zane (May 31, 2008) (#12)
That trailer reminds me of RE4 a lot... which is a good thing. I'm a little worried about being completely overrun by enemies, but isn't that part of the horror? The game's not even out and I'm already getting tense!
Interestingly enough, neither Masami Ueda nor the team from RE4 (Misao Senbongi & Shusaku Uchiyama) are not going to be involved with sound design. This time around it's being handled by Tetsuya Shibata - whose survival horror credits include Biohazard Outbreak and DMC 2, 3 ad 4 - and Hideaki Utsumi, who composed for Demento. Some of the music from the trailer is reminiscent of Ganado V/VI from the RE4 OST, so it looks like they may keep the same style as RE4 instead of going back to the older RE style of music, which would be awesome.

Hideaki Utsumi only arranged one track on the Demento soundtrack. Other than that, he's strictly a sound designer (which he is credited for on RE1 and RE2 on PlayStation), not an actual composer. Tetsuya Shibata, on the other hand, has composed a lot for Capcom and it's likely he's composing for RE5. I'd love to see Masami Ueda return to the series but it doesn't look promising with the new action-oriented style of gameplay and less focus on fear itself, puzzle solving, running low on ammo, being chased by Nemesis, etc. Still though, my fingers are crossed. I'd even settle for just a new Save Room theme with some haunting piano a la RE2 and RE3. ![]()

Definately, go "Secure Place!" I only wish it looped more...

The trailer shows that the woman in the picture at the bottom of the Magic Box page is not Claire.
By Adoru (May 31, 2008) (#17)
It's probably Rebecca. The Resident Evil games have an habbit of alternating it's lead characters. Every major character has at least appeared in two games, exept Rebecca... so it's her turn. This game takes place 10 years after RE Zero and 1 so of course she's aged.
As for the parasite thing, it's even creepier than RE4

I'd wager she's a new character. Chris' comment at the end, "my last partner was a woman too", pretty much assures that it can't be someone he's known from before (e.g Rebecca).

You think that the black woman who appears at the end of the trailer is Rebecca Chambers?
By Shoe (Jun 01, 2008) (#20)
Am i just imagining things or have they added some caucasian zombies into Redfield's bloodthirsty lynch mob mix now too?

That was exactly my thought... anyone who is still suggesting she's a returning character thinks that she changed race? O.o
By Adoru (Jun 01, 2008) (#22)
Hope not, cause when you go black you never go back!
But more seriously, is she really black? Even on pause she justs looks like she has a tan... k maybe it's not Rebecca afterall.

LoLx2!
i'm beginning to wonder what language the zombies will be yelling at you in.
Swahili maybe?
Does anyone know if either Mikami-san or Hiroyuki Kobayashi are fans of the old 1959 movie 'Suddenly, Last Summer'?
I remember Mikami saying that he grew up on Alfred Hitchcock films, but what about this one (directed by Joseph Mankiewicz)?

She is probably a new character that is local to Africa. It's likely that when Chris arrives, he will try to look for local contacts, and she is probably one of them.

You like the control with the wiimote better than with the GameCube controller?
