Why can't Konami put Dracula Battle style power rock into new Castlevanias? The technology is there!

......?

>Why can't Konami put Dracula Battle style power rock into new Castlevanias? The technology is there!

.....isn't that kind of what they did in Curse of Darkness?

By Yuvraj (Jan 18, 2006)

I think Sami was referring to good gothic rock.

>.....isn't that kind of what they did in Curse of Darkness?

, not generica

By Darkheim (Jan 18, 2006)

... as opposed to power metal?

We're referring to the Perfect Battles, no?

By Yuvraj (Jan 18, 2006)

Dracula Battle is referred to as gothic rock

Power metal doesnt sound right to me, though Im aware that that 'gothic rock' sounds too vague in general too. But here we all know what is meant by gothic rock, right?

Either way, in my original post the emphasis was on 'good'...I realize now it suffers some ambiquity.

By Darkheim (Jan 18, 2006)

Oh, I get it.

I imagine you're referring to the Malice Mizer/Gackt-sounding version of "gothic rock" which is distinctly Japanese and metal- or mainstream pop-derived. I confused that with what actual "goth" bands sound like. Sorry for the mix-up.

What the hell is wrong with you?

There is no such thing as "gothic rock" or "power metal". And even if there was, Dracula Battle would not be it.

Power metal is a very real genre...

I don't like though, too cheesy, thrash metal is the way to go. (Metallica, Slayer, etc.)

Just because something has a Wikipedia entry...

...does not mean it is real. Or more relevantly, it does not mean it is justifiable.

By Darkheim (Jan 18, 2006)

You really shouldn't...

... talk about genres of music that were popular before you were born. Really, it's a little embarassing.

?????????

That would basically rule out anyone talking about any music ever, unless we started pulling "genres" out of thin air.

Which, admittedly, is the root of the problem here.

By who?

>Power metal doesnt sound right to me

That's what it is!

By Super King (Jan 19, 2006)

From my understanding...

Castlevania music in general could be classified as Progressive Metal. But more specifically in with Power/Fantasy Metal. I believe its fairly big in Europe. The defining characteristics being the otherworldly settings, lyrics and stronger emphasis on melody.

Think Dream Theater, Coheed Cambria, Rammstrein, Jangli Jaggas(cv inspired), and Kamelot; but as far as I'm conserned they're all born from Rush;)

I think there is an important distinction between progressive metal and power metal, and you've grouped together some bands that I wouldn't consider in the same breath but I give you props for giving Rush their due :)

Hard rock...

...with a flavor. Not metal. Any questions?

By Kim (Jan 19, 2006)

No.

It's settled. People at large are retarded.

Sorry dude, the Konami Battle albums are nothing if not heavy metal.
